Scaramouche is the romantic among the Capitanos in classic Commedia del Arte...the one who pursues the ingénue but can never win her.

HEAD & HANDS: Soft, needle sculpted cloth, hand-embroidered beard.

EYES: Painted.

BODY: Stuffed over armature.

HEIGHT: 20”, including hat.

COSTUME: Black and white satin unitard with silver topstitching, white silk shirt. White panne velvet cape with decorative edge stitching. Black brocade shoes.

ACCESSORIES: White felt hat with decorative stitching and real feathers. Black crepe kerchief. Knee cockade of white organza ribbon with beaded dangle. Black leather sword belt and hanger embellished with beading and metal bead guards. Metal sword with thread-wrapped hilt and sterling silver guard. Black satin-stitched mask on enameled stick, red ribbon accent bow. Silk rose. Single teardrop pearl earring.

BASE: 9” round of wood under linoleum tile floor with a rose motif in the center.

 

Scaramouche placed 2nd/Amateur in the 2003 Sulky Challenge and toured with their trunk show for a year. The ties on his cape and sword are Sulky thread twisted into cord, and all his embroidery and tassels are Sulky thread.
