Frail as a flower, the doddering old king gently wandered off into happy
thoughts....
Kaspar is based on the
whimsical tenor king in Menotti’s
opera, “Amahl and the Night Visitors.”
In the European tradition of an elaborate creche scene, or
presipio, he is costumed more in a spirit of extravagance
than historical accuracy.
HEAD & HANDS: Super Sculpy, painted.
EYES: Painted.
BEARD: Rayon.
BODY: Soft sculpture over wire armature.
HEIGHT: 9” seated.
COSTUME: Gold lame shirt, violet silk pantaloons, green striped silk
sash with bead tassels, multi-colored brocade coat with glass beaded
peach fronts and sleeves.
ACCESSORIES: Yellow taffeta turban with
beads and gold pendant, black gilt velvet
boots, rings.
STOOL: Red turned legs, pale green tapestry seat, gold fringe.
